The Virgin Suicides

‘Sometimes we caught sight of tattered knee socks rounding a corner, or came upon them doubled over, shoving books into a cubbyhole, flicking the hair out of their eyes. But it was always the same: their white faces drifting in slow motion past us, while we pretended we hadn’t been looking for them at all, that we didn’t know they existed.’

Saturday sweets

Meet my new cardigan. I love it so~

  • I just adore The Lost Princess. She is one of those people who seems to make life just a little more magical. I love her post about Lyra’s Oxford especially. It makes me want to read Northern Lights again…

  • I love how The Virgin Suicides seems to inspire so many lovely art projects, like this photoshoot. I am shamlessly in love with the books and with Sofia Coppola’s film version ♥

It sure is!

Pretties

Some pretty and inspiring images I’ve collected. And now, bed is calling… ♥

Saturday sweets

Lately I’ve been re-reading the Georgia Nicolson books and I keep wanting to use her silly made-up words. It’s such a good series! So they’re technically for younger girls… In my defense I did read the first book when I was in year nine! Also, I own the boxed set of the Little House books so I am admittedly not full of sophisticosity in the reading department.

  • Where is that place? I think I want to live there. Or at least visit for a long time…
  • A few weeks ago I re-watched the Flight of the Concords series… Ah, it’s so funny! I loved this episode, but my favourite will always be the one where Jermaine ‘accidentally’ sleeps with an Australian. “Keith!? That’s a man’s name! She’s got a man’s name!”

  • I’m loving this article on Daydream Lily’s pretty apartment. I’m very jealous of her Audrey Kawasaki painting too. I want one! Every time she has a print sale it’s never one that I really love though…

  • After watching Food Inc and reading Fast Food Nation I’m feeling more and more aware of the types of food we eat and buy. (And oh my gosh… If I wasn’t already a vegetarian, reading about the meatpacking industry and what goes into meat would have put me off for life! I have a feeling conditions are slightly better here but still… yuck). Anyway, because of that I found this site to be really interesting, especially for seeing which companies are owned by whom, and which ones are Australian owned.

  • So many pretty bookshelves
  • I’m still not sure how I feel about the newest Doctor Who series, but this episode was one of my favourites.

Happy Saturday! ♥ ♥

Mori girl

I just love Mori girl style. Somehow I’ve started dressing up like this most of the time. I like to wear fancy clothes when I’m not at work being sensible.

Speaking of work, I recently got invited to work one day a week at the Depot doing filing and data entry. I was there for what was supposed to be a one-off but they must have liked my work so much that I get to keep going back :3 Today I had an interview for a promotion at the library as well. Which will be amazing if I get it! It was good experience being interviewed as well (that’s what I’m telling myself to get over the complete embarrassment of the whole thing, haha…)

It still feels very strange that I have a proper job… Inside I think I will always feel like the 16 year old delinquent who used to go around wearing a shirt made out of an old pair of stockings…
